Redacting Owner/Mailing Address on Rate Notice

    Hello

We have a current process whereby when a change of ownership is actioned and there is a balance overdue on the assessment, a copy of the Rate Notice (issued to the previous owner) is provided to the current owner and of course details of the overdue amount.

Question, does your Council redact owner name/s and mailing address on the Rate Notice provided (if your process is similar)?

    Regards, Christina

    Hi Christina,

When a change of ownership is actioned, we also have 2 standard letters that go out to the new owner, both details the current balances for rates and water whether owing or nil.  If the transfer occurs after the issue of our current notice and before the due date for payment and there is amounts owing, we will send a letter stating due to the change of ownership they may not have received this notice and we then attach it as per the original with the previous owners .  If the transfer occurs after the due date for payment we send a different standard letter and do not attach a copy of the rate notice, we just put a notation beside the amount owing and say - Due Now.  Happy to provide you with a copy of our standard templates if you want me to email them to you, just let me know donna.smith@douglas.qld.gov.au.

    Cheers,

    Donna
