SUPPORTING THE PROFESSIONALS SHAPING QUEENSLAND COMMUNITIES

Women in Local Government Conference 2024

The Women in Local Government Conference was developed to support women in the local government sector.  The conference aims to empower women through exploration of leadership and discussion of techniques to address common barriers and challenges.  In identifying and discussing workplace cultures that value the contribution of women in all aspects and levels of the organisation, this event seeks to improve workplaces across Queensland councils.

By connecting women across the local government sector, we aim to provide officers with valuable insights, effective real-world strategies from experiences officers and plenty of opportunities to network, collaborate and share ideas.

International Women's Day (IWD) is a global event celebrated annually on March 8 to commemorate the cultural, political, and socioeconomic achievements of women.

Testimonial -

The WILG Conference was an amazing experience, as a first time attendee.  There was such a wealth of knowledge, experience and motivation from the guest speakers, the panel members, the LGMA staff, other Council staff members and the sponsors of this wonderful conference.  Being from a rural Council, the extra assistance financially, to be able to attend was greatly appreciated.  I have worked in Local Government for 29 years and this conference gave me a refreshed look on myself and my ability to serve my community.  I was definitely EMPOWERED!  - Jody Bredden, Charters Towers Regional Council (recipient of a scholarship provided by the DSDILGP).
