You’ll play a key role in delivering a safe, cost-effective, and efficient mechanical service—ensuring the ongoing operation of Council’s fixed and mobile plant, vehicles, and equipment. This hands-on position includes workshop-based duties as well as field servicing across Council sites.

Procurement Officer
To Implement Council’s policies and procedures to deliver effective and efficient logistics support services, stores operations, stock inventory and acquisition of goods and services in line with Council’s Procurement Policy and the Local Government Regulation 2012. The role is responsible for managing stock, maintaining accurate inventory records, and ensuring materials are available to support operations. The role requires strong organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to work effectively with suppliers and stakeholders.

Recovery & Resilience Administration Officer

The Recovery & Resilience Administration Officer provides administrative and engagement support to the Local Disaster Management team. This position supports the team to enhance community disaster response and resilience capabilities through various programs and initiatives.  Working closely with the Disaster Management Officer, you will help establish a Community Resilience Network and implement the Mareeba Shire Know Your Risk initiative, aimed at building long-term community preparedness, response and recovery through proactive education and engagement.

This is a temporary, full-time position to 31 March 2027 and is funded under the Queensland and Australian Government’s Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements.

CCTV Operator (Wastewater and Stormwater)

This role is part of a dynamic team within the Network Service Delivery Team, delivering data to support reactive investigations and capital renewals programs.

The primary purpose of this role is to provide underground asset condition assessments by conducting investigations and identifying locations of underground assets. CCTV Inspections are invaluable in maintaining service standards related to underground infrastructure.

CCTV is a specialised unit which works closely with the asset operators of the stormwater, wastewater and water network. No two days are the same. The team could be providing immediate support to locate infrastructure failures to completing planned asset inspections.

Recovery and Resilience Lead

We’re looking for someone to help make our community safer and stronger during disasters. In this role, you’ll work with others to plan and run programs that prepare people for emergencies, especially those most at risk. You’ll lead workshops, support recovery efforts, and help improve how we respond to disasters. You’ll also work with local teams and community members to understand their needs and make sure our plans are effective and inclusive. This role is responsible for developing and implementing strategic community projects and programs that enhance public awareness and strengthen disaster resilience across Council and the broader community. Community Resilience Support Officer 

This position will provide disaster resilience support relating to recovery planning, targeted community engagement and capacity-building initiatives. A key feature of this position is supporting programs that enhance disaster readiness and recovery and assisting to embed preparedness measures within the community, in particular vulnerable populations. Operations Centre Technical Officer

This role will monitor and control Water and Wastewater assets for Townsville City Council. Ensuring the reliability of assets and equipment and to improve environmental compliance, safety and service levels, while reducing maintenance costs. This role will also take customers calls outside of normal working hours and lead work teams and coordinate resources after hours. The role is critical for the implementation of the Townsville Water operations and customer strategies and will improve the coordination of resources, which will result in reduced reactive maintenance, increased maintenance efficiency, cost reduction and improved compliance and levels of service. This position will work a rotating, even time shift to cover the full 24 hours each day, 365(6) days a year. Shifts are rostered for 12.25 hours (12 hours and 15 minutes), including a handover. The night shifts will be predominantly worked alone. The ability to self-manage and be proactive will also be important for this position.
