Thanks to those who attended the session - seemed like a quiet one but when I look at what we covered, it was a lot.
Human Rights Act is promising to be tricky to deal with. Some councils have started the process of considering risks and have embedded that consideration into new policy development/decision making. Noosa Council was noted as having a good, noting that this is only the initial assessment and the bitey bits will be things we haven't considered (such as raised soil levels as occurred as Fraser Coast). policy https://www.noosa.qld.gov.au/downloads/file/2098/human-rights-policy
We were reminded of the requirement to have a Child and Youth Risk Strategy for all areas which work with kids in any way. Napranum shared theirs : https://uploads-ssl.webflow.com/57e496d81c882348567cdce7/60f4e42a252d11688c4a40e2_Endorsed%20-%20Child%20and%20Youth%20Risk%20Management%20Plan%20%26%20Policy%20-%20June%202021.pdf
Amy from Bundaberg kindly shared their Compliance Management Policy which is attached.
We discussed unreasonable conduct responses and it appears most councils are now on top of this (unfortunately because it has been needed).
Charters Towers is seeking Terms of Reference for Committees if anyone has these and can share.
Participants, please add if I have missed anything.
