People and Culture (HR, L&D) Village Exchange

This village exchange meeting is for local government employees working in the people and culture, human resources, learning and development areas of Queensland councils. It is a place to get together, share information, get updates on the latest legislation and policies, and ultimately help each other improve our ways of working and serving our communities.

We've scheduled four exchange sessions for 2024:

Current Agenda Items: 

• What performance appraisal systems councils are using – formal systems versus paper based system etc. 
  

• What reporting other P&C departments do – ELT, Council meetings/Councillors, JCC, Audit & Risk etc.

• Do any Council’s currently have a Working with Children Policy that they would be happy to share?

1. Is this policy solely managed by People & Culture or does it sit within another area of the business e.g. Community Development?
2. Did your Council complete a comprehensive risk assessment on all roles (employee, volunteer, contractor) that work directly or indirectly with children?
3. What are any other key considerations in relation to this policy that we should be aware of?
